Brief Summary

This vehicle known as “B.A.D 2” is my second vehicle in my fleet. It started out as a 2013 D40 Tekna Navara chassis. This vehicle was purchased as a daily driver capable of multiple roles such as being my tow rig and recovery vehicle. Essentially a support vehicle for B.A.D 1.

Detailed Summary

B.A.D 2 is a top spec Tekna trim of a 2013 Nissan Navara. It’s the higher horsepower Spanish built 2.5 turbo diesel common-rail offering from Nissan. A far simpler engine than the V9X which is the automatic V6 option found in the Outlaw models for instance. However those that know me recognise I prefer a simpler engine with less to go wrong and a good old fashioned manual transmission. The 190BHP YD25 is nothing to turn your nose up at. It pulls like a freight rain for a medium-duty truck.

You may be aware from a couple glances of B.A.D 2 that it is not stock. Lot’s has been changed and will continue to be developed. So let’s dive deeper into the beast.

So B.A.D. 2 is a mostly stock exterior currently. I’m a big fan of keeping a mostly stock look with some aftermarket parts like behind the front bumper and rear brake lights for instance. Speaking of the brake lights they are Chinese LED units from Predator4x4. They are tinted entire LED pairs that have a sequential indicator element. They are pretty neat and since they are smoked they look so much cleaner on the rear of the truck while being plenty bright enough for road use. In fact they are actually brighter than stock so at night I have friends tell me they look real good. They are plug and play however. The factory wiring despite the stock brake lights having only a reverse light in the passenger side, has a unused reverse wire/pin in the right hand side connector. So reverse functionality works. However that does mean on a UK vehicle where the rear fog light is usually in the right hand brake light means it’s replaced with the reverse light. So therefore to make them UK legal I installed two Low Profile 11FM LED Rear Fog light units on either side of the rear chrome bumper.

Installation was easy and wired properly. Using flexible plastic conduit underneath the vehicle to get the rear fog-light signal to the passenger side. I spliced into the loom behind the brake lights with uninsulated through-crimps to get my rear-fog feed and what I’m about to mention. My reverse light feed. So the reverse light elements of these lights is a bit mediocre to be truthful. They’d pass an inspection but not bright enough, especially with towing a trailer and backing up etc. So I opted to fit two LED AutoLamps 73120BM 12/24V Recess Mounted Square reverse lights. Check out the photos for the spacing and final look. The reverse lights are very bright and I’m very happy with them. I made a wiring harness and wrapped the harness in plastic flexible conduit underneath the back of the truck. Then used Deutsch DT connectors to make replacing the lights easier and serviceable. Not hard wiring them which is a massive gripe of mine when I see people wire things in permanently.
